Ecclesiastes 11:7 Light is pleasing. It is good for the eyes to see the sun.
Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and it always falls in the Winter. Over the course of Lent, time passes until it is Spring before we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ on the day we now call Easter. Because the earliest date that Easter can occur is March 22nd, sometimes it falls on the first full day of Spring – but that is very rare. Normally, it has been Spring for at least several days when Easter arrives.
With each passing day of Winter and subsequently, Spring, the sun shines longer on us. It feels so good. Our bodies need it – and our minds need it, too. We need the warmth that the sun provides – and we need the clarity that its light gives us. In its light we see things we may not see otherwise.
1 John 1:5 5 This is what we heard Him tell us. We are passing it on to you. God is light. There is no darkness in Him.
As I noted yesterday, the air temperature may be the same on two consecutive days, but when the sun shines on one day, but not on the next, the day that the sun shines will feel warmer to us. The circumstances of our life may be the same, but if we don’t let God shine into our lives, there is a stark difference in our days and our lives.
Jesus, Light of the world, shine into our hearts so we can see anything we need to root out, anything that is not of You, anything that we have not surrendered to You. With each passing day, I know that I am one day closer to the day when I will meet You face to face, but until then, I want to be faithfully serving You in the ways You have called me to. So, my first priority is to seek You, so that the other priorities will fall into place according to Your will, which I pray will be done here on earth as it is done in Heaven. In Your name I pray, Amen.
Isaiah 55:6 Seek the Lord while He may be found;
call to Him while He is near.
